Tens of SmartVineyards irrigation management stations were installed in Oregon in 2013
In 2013, tens of SmartVineyards irrigation management stations were installed in vineyards in Oregon's Willamette Valley. This included the 18 SmartVineyards research stations discussed in detail elsewhere.
All vineyard managers were able to monitor in real-time soil water tension at 3 depths and air temperature and humidity above the canopy. Managers with research stations were also given weekly updates on soil volumetric water, grapevine mid-day, stem water tension, and transpiration at their stations.
Online data and weekly updates were used by managers to continuously monitor grapevine stress and to adjust vineyard irrigation to meet their goals for grapevine stress.
Here is a slideshow, "SmartVineyards 2013 Research - Stations", illustrating our 18 Willamette Valley research stations at mid-season, during the weekly mid-day meansurement of stem water tension with a portable PMS pressure chamber.
Hundreds of SmartVineyards irrigation management stations are being installed in CA, OR, and WA in 2014 and 2015
In 2014 and 2015, more than a hundred SmartVineyards tension monitors are being installed in vineyards in Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, and Monterey counties on California's Central Coast, in the Yakima and Walla Walla Valleys of Washington, and in Oregon's Willamette and Rogue Valleys.
Here is a slideshow, "SmartVineyards on the Central Coast - Paso Robles", illustrating some of our 2014 installations in vineyards on California's central coast.
In most of these vineyards, irrigation is a necessity, and every irrigation decision is also a decision about the desired level of grapevine stress - from budbreak to leaf drop. In many of these vineyards, managers are also worried about the impact of drought on irrigation water supplies, either now or in the future.
In 2015, over a 1000 mile swath of the west coast, vineyard managers are using the SmartVineyards irrigation management system to monitor and manage irrigation water and grapevine stress.
We help managers use the water they need, no more, no less, for their management goals of yield, quality, water use, or stress. SmartVineyards means smart irrigation in every vineyard block.
Appreciate Our Prices and Service
Each SmartVineyards tension monitor is just $450, and includes everything you need to report soil tension and temperature data through a collector and transmitter to your browser. Up to 20 tension monitors can report through a single SmartVineyards system.
One collector is needed in each SmartVineyards system, to receive data from up to 20 tension monitors and relay it to the transmitter. A SmartVineyards collector is just $550.
One transmitter is needed in each SmartVineyards system to relay data to the internet. A PC transmitter relays data through a local PC and is just $350. A SmartVineyards cellular transmitter relays data through a local cell tower and is just $950.
The everything needed to install and connect a SmartVineyards systems is included in your installation bundle. A bundle with everything you need for a 5-monitor tension system with tension monitors in 5 vineyard blocks, as illustrated elsewhere, is just $3,150 with a PC-linked transmitter or just $3,750 with a cellular transmitter.
Sensor data is delivered to the browser on your desktop, laptop, or smart phone for just $15 per monitor plus $15 per transmitter per month, with comparisons, charts, and downloads available to improve every irrigation decision.
The cost of the data from a 5-monitor SmartVineyards system with tension monitors in 5 vineyard blocks is $90 per month - a cost greatly exceeded by improvements in irrigation, quality, and yield.
Compare to systems from Davis, Spectrum, Ranch, or Campbell for cost or benefit.
